One in four of us will be affected by mental health problems in any year. The effects are as real as a broken arm, even though there isn’t a sling or plaster cast to show for it. When we talk about mental health we mean problems such as low mood, depression, anxiety, not sleeping well and stress.
For someone having one of these mental health problem it can be hard, but sometimes the isolation and stigma can make it even worse. Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be difficult and can make a big difference. Often people worry about offending or upsetting other if they discuss their mental health, but from evidence we know that people with mental health problems would rather talk to someone they know.
